Hungry Antwerp was invited on this trip by THX Agency and June Magazine in collaboration with Visit Bretagne, something I’m incredibly grateful for. Sometimes a trip is about the destination. But this one? This one was about the people, the moments… and everything in between. From the second we stepped on the train in Brussels, I felt it: this was going to be special.

Day 1: From Antwerp to Nantes
We arrived in Nantes and immediately dove into the heart of Bretagne’s food culture. Our first stop brought us to a local farm where we discovered the rare Nantaise cows, a breed that almost disappeared, now brought back with so much care and respect for nature. Later that evening, we visited a microbrewery set in an old industrial building by the Loire. A place where history meets creativity. We ended the day with dinner at a cozy bistro named Balthazar.
Day 2: Wine, vegetables & creative energy
The next day started with a wine tasting in the vineyards around Nantes called Les Trois Toits. Local grapes, organic production, and a deep connection to the land. After that, we met a young farmer, Ferme du Bois des Anses, growing organic vegetables with so much love and intention. It sounds simple, but moments like this remind you how important real food and sustainability are.
Lunch was pure magic: a hidden bistro, Chants d'Avril, serving creative dishes paired with natural wines. And then… something completely different. We explored the artistic side of Nantes, surreal machines, creativity everywhere. To finish the day, we drove to the coast to have dinner at Le Ponton, with a view over the ocean, fresh seafood, sunset…
Day 3: Salt, cheese & Bretagne’s soul
We visited the famous salt fields of Guérande, where salt is still harvested in a traditional way, something that hasn’t changed for centuries. Then came one of my favorite parts: A local cheese producer, Kerouzine, who knew everything about her products.
Lunch? Authentic Breton crêpes and galettes, simple, but perfect. In the afternoon, we continued to Maison Armorine, where we tasted caramel sweets, and then to Chocolaterie Glaz, where chocolate is made in a very artisanal way. We ended the day at Le Vivier in Quiberon, with a seafood dinner right by the ocean. Fresh, pure, and shared together.
Day 4: Early mornings & unforgettable moments
The last day started very early, with a visit to the fish market, La Criée de Quiberon. Seeing the fishermen, the fresh fish, the energy of the morning… After that, we visited La Belle-Iloise, where traditional fish recipes are made, followed by a stop at Biscuiterie Simon to taste the famous Kouign-Amann (dangerously good).
We had lunch at Hello Rivages and then visited Maison Quintin, where we discovered oyster farming and learned directly from the people behind it.
The real highlight of the trip? Our final evening at Domaine du Plessis Kaër. No restaurant. No formal setting.
Just us. We cooked together, using local products we discovered during the trip.
That evening wasn’t about content.
It wasn’t about work. It was about people, connection and creating memories together.
And that’s exactly what this trip gave me.
Bretagne is beautiful. The food is incredible. The places are unique.
But what made this trip unforgettable… was the group.
